I have had these for about 6 months. They seemed fine, aside for a lack of sealing where the display is- so if you splash any liquid on the top surface, or place a glass bowl with damp bottom onto them it gets into the display. Now they have just stopped working- they turn on and immediately turn themselves off again. Junk.

My previous 10 year old cheap sprung mechanical scales went to the charity shop….. I wonder if they’ve still got them?

Lasted about a year and were temperamental during this period. Have now failed to measure correctly. Changed batteries, but there is a problem with scales themselves. Looking at the other reviews, Salter should remove this product from manufacture. Amazon should remove from their distribution. DO NOT BUY.

After watching my Vet weighing my guinea pigs on a small compact stainless steel digital scale when I at home had been trying to manage with an old-fashioned kitchen scale with weights, I trawled the internet to find a reasonably-priced alternative. Then lo and behold up comes the Salter 1066 best-priced at Amazon. This is a wonderful little tool and measures my little friends’ weight exactly which I do once weekly to make sure they are in good health and eating well. It is so easy to use, just put a container on the scale, press reset then add animal (or ingredient) to be weighed, and it changes from metric to imperial at the touch of a button when required. There are no grooves or corners to catch grime in, so a quick wipe over with some disinfectant and I can even use it in the kitchen. Just don’t mention spit-roast in front of the piggies!!

These scales stopped working within a month. I didn’t buy them from Amazon, which is a shame as I would have seen the many, many negative reviews.

We have experienced the same problems as others, the scales simply stopped working and no amount of battery resetting etc. has made any difference.

We will throw these out and write off the money spent.

Bought these scales a couple of weeks ago. Straight out of the box they never worked. Wasted money changeing the batteries, contacted salter customers services who were less than helpfull as i had lost the receipt. This is the second set I have bought, the first stopped working after about 3 weeks. Same less than helpfull response. Never buy this make again – cheap and less than cheerfull.
